Meeting the Basic Needs of Our Most Vulnerable

From Los Angeles to New York, WGIRLS supports women and children in need throughout our country by providing them with essentials and support for those most vulnerable.  2020 brought us back to the basics, where we focused predominately on food, shelter, warmth, and safety. Examples of our programming efforts are included below.

Feeding The Hungry

Chapters across the country from Los Angeles to Chicago to Milwaukee to Boston to Washington, DC came together for our Neighbors in Need campaign helping to get food in the hands of those most in need during COVID-19. We worked with local organizations on the ground in the communities we serve including Capital Area Food Bank (DC) and No Kid Hungry (Chicago) to help support each of our city’s immediate needs.

Warming Hearts and Hands

WGIRLS NYC partnered with Children of Promise Network to support children of incarcerated parents during these unprecedented times. The Children of Promise Network strives to embrace children of incarcerated parents and empower them to break the cycle of intergenerational involvement in the criminal justice system. Our partnership provided over 100 children with holiday gifts and winter accessories to keep them warm through the cold winter in NYC.
