Learn More About Us

Founded by Amy Heller, the WGIRLS INC began as a small group of professional women in Manhattan who came together to donate their time, energy, and talents to assist disadvantaged women and children across NYC and in times of international crisis around the world. The WGIRLS inherited our name from our weekly meeting day, Wednesday.

Formalized in 2007, the WGIRLS INC has since become a national organization over the past year with over 200 active volunteers and new chapters in New Orleans , Milwaukee , New Jersey , DC, Las Vegas , Pittsburgh and the Bay Area ( San Francisco ). Each of the WGIRLS chapters is united under the mission to provide underprivileged women and children with the support and resources necessary to achieve health, happiness, and the ability to lead productive and successful adult lives. Additionally, in times of international crisis, the WGIRLS will extend support outside the local community through SavetheChildren.org.

Each of the WGIRLS chapters hosts several fundraising events throughout the year. Event proceeds are used to support customized WGIRLS programming within the local community or donated to local pre-selected 501 C3 organizations that share our vision to support underprivileged women and children. Most of our chapters follow in the footsteps of the founding chapter in NYC to host an annual Bachelor & Bachelorette Auction in the spring, a Back to School themed event in the fall, and a Hope for the Holidays fundraiser during the holiday season. The WGIRLS is proud to have supported more than 20 organizations over the past several years through volunteerism and donations of goods, services and grants.

In addition to fundraising, the WGIRLS have implemented customized programming to meet several outstanding needs in the community. Programs include outreach to disadvantaged children during the holidays and meals for guests of the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge. Most recently, the WGIRLS INC acquired Operation Fairy Dust, an organization that has collected and distributed prom dresses to underprivileged high school girls since 2002. With strengths in operational execution and fundraising, a large membership, and a growing national presence the WGIRLS is poised to take OFD to the next level.

The WGIRLS offers our members a valuable opportunity to socialize, network, and develop friendships with other professional women. We host a number of social events throughout the year designed to foster a sense of community and friendship within the group. Whether it’s a trip to the vineyards for wine tasting, participating in the Revlon Run Walk, or a holiday get together, we always find ways to have fun!

The WGIRLS are always looking for new volunteers who are interested in joining one of the chapters across the country. If you are interested in becoming a member, please take a moment to complete our new members form. We look forward to meeting you!
