Helping Prom Girls Enjoy Their Night
Saturday, April 9, 2011

On April 9, more than 25 staff members from PS 16 helped the nonprofit WGIRLS with its Project GLaM, a program that collects and distributes prom-appropriate dresses and accessories to high school girls, who otherwise might not be able to afford a new dress. This year, the organization gave away 1,300 dresses to students for their proms, and PS 16’s staff was on hand to help in the dressing room and packing up among other tasks. Principal Vincenza Gallassio was so proud of them that she bought each PS 16 volunteer a t-shirt! WGIRLS helps economically disadvantaged children and women through a variety of outreach programs.
